Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens

Under the guidance of state and federal guidelines, the role involves aiding the pharmacists under direct supervision in the domain of pharmacy. The selected candidate will assist with a range of Pharmacy Department responsibilities, in adherence with our company's policies and procedures.

Integral to the role is the use of pharmacy systems for retrieving patient and drug information and for processing prescriptions. For those with PTCB or ExCPT certification, you'll also guide pharmacy technicians on using pharmacy systems, as well as instruct cashiers on pharmacy cash register operations.

Customer Experience

Interact with customers and patients by greeting them and offering aid with products and services. The ability to resolve customer issues and answer queries is key to ensuring a positive customer interaction.

As a representative of our company, you will incorporate customer service best practices and share these with your team in order to provide a standout customer experience. This includes personal manners such as courtesy, eye contact, and greeting.

Tasks

- Assisting the pharmacist with the practice of pharmacy in compliance with company, state, and federal policy
- Using pharmacy systems to input patient and drug information
- Filling prescriptions
- Immediate reporting of prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty
- Strict observance of Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription dispensing activities
- Managing related sales on assigned cash register, handling cash when necessary
- Processing manual claims for third party program prescription services and performing other clerical duties as assigned
- Assisting with inventory management activities like ordering, unpacking, checking and storing pharmaceuticals shipments
- Assisting in administering clinical services
- Helping to nurture relationships with local medical community
- Assisting with maintenance of pharmacy department

Training & Personal Development

- Earning and maintaining PTCB or ExCPT certification.
- Attending requested training and completing PPLs
- Staying updated in healthcare and pharmacy knowledge, including the latest news and developments.

Basic Qualifications

- English fluency in reading, writing, and speaking
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

- Six months experience in a retail environment
- Good math skills
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Knowledge of store inventory control
- PTCB or ExCPT certification preferred
