Newly enrolled Border Patrol Agents who commence their duty on or after January 8, 2024, will be able to benefit from lucrative recruitment incentives.   • To achieve its objectives, the USBP employs Government assets like snowmobiles, ATVs, and motorcycles alongside other equipment traditionally used in law enforcement during border and coastal patrols.
  • Infrequently, operational necessities may demand traveling.

Duty Locations:

Qualifications:

Meeting any of the following criteria will make you eligible for the GL-5 grade level:

Salary: Salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience level

Experience Substitution: One year of related professional experience could be substituted for one year of training at college, university, or a technical or vocational school at the junior college level or above

A Blend of Professional Experience and Educational Attainment: Achieved via a harmonious blend of practical job experience and higher education. This will be determined by evaluating your resume and official or unofficial academic transcripts submitted along with the application.

To meet the requirements for the GL-7 grade level, you must possess one of the following:

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in criminology, law enforcement, police science, or a related field; OR a combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the above

Education Exchange: Meeting the educational qualifications for this role involves either holding a bachelor's degree with exceptional academic achievement due to one's class ranking, a GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.0, or membership in an honor society. Another method of qualification is demonstrating that one will attain Superior Academic Achievement in their bachelor's degree program. There is an additional option to satisfy the educational requirements by substituting a year of graduate-level training in a field relating to law enforcement acquired from an accredited institution. Possible subjects of study include criminal justice, homeland security, justice studies, law enforcement, courts and judicial systems, forensic technology, forensic psychology, or corrections and rehabilitation. The completion of such training must be within 9 months before the announcement's ending date

Individuals with prior or current experience in law enforcement or military law enforcement may be considered for the GL-9 grade level:

For this role, you must possess the skillset necessary to plan and conduct investigations, plan and execute arrests, serve court orders (warrants), utilize firearms, and/or engage with individuals in a persuasive, tactful, and resourceful manner.

This grade level cannot be replaced by any form of education.

In order to meet the requirements, you need to have resided primarily in the United States (including protectorates as recognized by international law) for at least three of the preceding five years.
