Overview


The PM & Inventory Control Supervisor will work under the general direction of the Plant Manager and ensure that all scheduling and maintenance activities are executed efficiently to meet customer orders and maintain an optimal inventory level. The PM & Inventory Control Supervisor will play a crucial role in coordinating production schedules, managing preventive maintenance programs, and serving as a liaison between sales, production, and shipping departments.


Tyler Pipe, as a subsidiary of McWane, Inc., is a nationwide leader in manufacturing cast iron soil pipe and fittings located in Tyler, Texas. Responsibilities


Production Scheduling:



  • Develop and implement production schedules for molding units and Core production based on product availability and customer order requirements.

  • Continuously assess production needs and adjust schedules as necessary to meet changing demands.

  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless execution of schedules and timely completion of orders.


Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program:



  • Oversee the preventive maintenance program, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained to prevent disruptions in production.

  • Identify areas for improvement in the PM tracking system and implement changes to enhance accuracy and effectiveness.

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks when necessary and train staff on proper maintenance procedures.


Inventory Management:



  • Act as a liaison between sales, production, and shipping departments to maintain an abundant inventory.

  • Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed.

  • Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.

  • Maintains master distribution schedule for the assigned facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.

  • Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff.

  • Coordinate with relevant teams to address inventory shortages or excesses promptly.

  • Implement strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce lead times.


Supervision:



  • Supervise both production scheduling and PM tracking staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficiency in their respective roles.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement training programs to enhance the skills of the scheduling and maintenance teams.

  • Cultivate a collaborative and positive working environment within the department.


Reporting and Communication:



  • Regularly report to the Plant Manager, providing updates on production schedules, preventive maintenance activities, and any issues that may impact inventory levels.

  • Communicate any shortcomings or challenges that could lead to lower-than-expected inventory levels and collaborate on solutions.


Demonstrate a dedication to safety by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering and working in the plant.


Complete other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.


Previous supervisor experience preferred.Proven experience in production scheduling and preventive maintenance within a manufacturing environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve production and maintenance goals.Proficient in using scheduling and maintenance tracking software.Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering and working in the plant.
