JOB SUMMARY

Our Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance tasks associated with the care of cemetery grounds and facilities.

This position will work under direct supervision or may work individually or with a team of employees. Duties are typical grounds maintenance functions found in any large-scale municipal park or garden.

Much of the work will be performed with hand tools and as experience allows, equipment operation will be included in duties.

This is an entry-level position and candidates for this position can expect to receive much of their training on the job.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• General grounds clean-up and trash disposal.


• Clean and maintain storm drains.


• Repair lawn damage.


• Mow section and garden lawns.


• Trim memorial tablets.


• Replant landscapes.


• Apply landscape chemicals such as fertilizers, wetting agents, herbicides.


• Assist client families and other guests with grounds maintenance requests.


• Operate specialized equipment to move materials.


• Assist in completing interments.


• Assist in set-up and clean-up before and after special events.


• Install tents for funeral services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 6 months of experience in a maintenance position.


• Valid California Driver s License.


• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.


• Must have a caring and professional demeanor and enjoy helping families at a difficult time.


• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.


• High school diploma / GED certification.


• Must be able to work on-site.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Some previous experience in a mortuary / cemetery position.
