Coding Advisor

In the role of Coding Advisory Specialist, your contribution will be crucial in maintaining the precision and regulatory compliance of medical coding practices within our healthcare facility. It will be your duty to keep abreast with the evolving coding regulations and guidelines, a fundamental aspect of our compliance monitoring efforts. Daily, you willmeticulously review patients’ records to ensure that both diagnoses and procedures are correctly coded, utilizing the ICD-10-CM/PCS standards for inpatient services.

Success in this position requires a collaborative approach. You'll be expected to engage closely with the coding staff, physicians, and other medical professionals to improve the quality and accuracy of clinical documentation. Through your exceptional analytical and critical thinking abilities, you will assess audit results to spot any coding inconsistencies. Your outstanding communication skills will also be vital in promptly addressing and correcting any coding errors with the relevant coding personnel.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Performing thorough audits on patient medical records to verify the accuracy of coding, ensure compliance with coding guidelines, and meet regulatory standards.
• Acting as a coding authority and support for the coding teams and other departments.
• Working with the HIM team to develop and enhance coding policies and procedures.
