Job Description:

The Supervisor Regulatory Affairs invests in the future of Southwest’s People by leading the Regulatory Affairs Team which oversees the noncompliance investigation process when we receive investigation letters from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). As a Leader, this role will support their Team with performing investigations, assisting with authoring formal reports, and recommending corrective actions. This role also represents Southwest with the FAA and will provide efficient and effective solutions and responses in a timely manner. The Supervisor Regulatory Affairs is detail-oriented and eager to lead and coach the Regulatory Affairs Team and ensure compliant operation for all of Southwest’s People

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.
U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required, and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

- Guide and lead Team Members using SWA talent management practices to coach, develop, and engage Employees

- Represent Southwest Airlines to both internal and/or external organizations
- Review maintenance documents for compliance, accuracy, and completeness
- Assist in the development and implementation of processes and procedures ensure Southwest Airlines maintenance requirements and Federal Regulations are safely and efficiently met
- Lead and direct the interface of the Regulatory Affairs Team with the FAA regarding responses to Letters of Investigation and the reporting of suspect non-compliance utilizing the Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program
- Manage and ensure all Letter of Investigation and Self-Disclosure responses are completed within scheduled response dates
- Manage and ensure internal and external investigations that support the responses to Letters of Investigations and Self-Disclosures are completed in a timely manner
- Notify FAA when extensions are required, providing detailed explanation for extension nee
- Maintain the Regulatory Affairs database and ensure metrics related to the performance goals are readily available
- Represent Regulatory Affairs by preparing oral and written presentations upon request to Leadership to support various functions (e.g. CASS)
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
- Knowledge of working systems of an aircraft
- Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Skilled in strong written and verbal communications
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Access, and Word
- Skilled in motivating, developing, and directing People as they work, identifying the best People for the job
- Ability to understand and interpret the Code of Federal Regulations and technical documents
- Ability to work well under tight time constraints in a stressful environment to accomplish assignments and projects
- Ability to determine Root Cause and Corrective actions utilizing applicable methods,5 Whys , Bow Tie, or Fishbone methods
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
Airline management in Regulatory Affairs or Auditing in a regulatory environment
Licensing/Certification
Airframe Power plant or equivalent
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information in daily tasks
Must be able to work under tight time constraints
Air travel with frequent overnight stays required
