Job Description: Pharmaceutical Technician

We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmaceutical Technician to join our team at Walmart. As a Pharmaceutical Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the pharmacy team by assisting with prescription processing, medication dispensing, and inventory management. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, interact with customers and healthcare professionals, and contribute to the efficient operation of our pharmacy department.

Responsibilities:

1. Prescription Processing: Assist pharmacists with prescription intake and processing, including data entry, insurance verification, and prescription filling. Ensure accuracy and completeness of prescription orders and adherence to regulatory requirements.

2. Medication Dispensing: Prepare and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently, following established procedures and safety protocols. Label prescription containers with appropriate information and instructions for use.

3. Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management tasks, such as stock replenishment, ordering, and shelf organization. Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and perform regular inventory audits to ensure accurate stock levels.

4. Medication Packaging: Prepare medication packages, such as blister packs or unit dose packages, according to prescription orders and patient needs. Ensure that medications are packaged securely and labeled correctly.

5. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks on medications and prescription orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with pharmacy standards. Report any discrepancies or errors to the pharmacist for resolution.

6. Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional customer service to pharmacy customers, addressing inquiries, and assisting with prescription pickup and drop-off. Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area to enhance the customer experience.

7. Compliance: Adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality guidelines, and pharmacy safety protocols. Ensure compliance with state and federal laws governing pharmacy practice.

Requirements:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or certification preferred.

2. Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred. Must maintain certification through continuing education and renewal requirements.

3. Experience: Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy assistant preferred but not required.

4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry and prescription processing software. Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, drug classifications, and medication dosage forms.

5. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact with customers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
