For further information, see SAIC's privacy policySAIC has an opening for a Launch Acquisition Engineer who possesses a working knowledge of complex and critical launch systems and processes in order to provide expert advice and technical evaluations.
Addresses both future mission acquisition strategy and the maintenance of on-going contracts. Supports cradle-to-grave launch and launch support activities.
Navigates challenges associated with multiple launch service providers and appropriate separation of proprietary information while maintaining horizontal engineering focus on integration of requirements to assure compatibility across multiple launch systems.
Specific duties include : Develop acquisition strategies and documents to procure launch services and mission integration activitiesPerform requirements planning tasks including review and technical assessments of key mission contractual documentationSupport annual budget planning and execution reviews, as well as technical and programmatic meetingsPerform technical evaluation of contractor proposalsReview and track mission requirements, assess adequacy of verification activities, identify risks and opportunities, and develop mitigation or implementation milestonesIdentify and evaluate new or changing requirements, capture emerging risks and recommend plans of action consistent with strategic goalsCoordinate with internal and external stakeholders, resolving issues as neededSupport launch vehicle contractor reviews to assess progress and issues in meeting mission requirementsSupport contract management activities for ECP forecasting and implementation coordination, award fee evaluation and contractor oversightAssess strategic impacts of proposed launch vehicle fleet changesIdentify enhancements and assess viability from a programmatic, business and acquisition execution perspectiveVerify that recommended acquisition approaches are executable within resource constraints and mission integration risks are identified and mitigatedAssess new entrant launch vehicle provider capabilities and processesLeverage launch experience to provide support in preparing for and conducting all required meetings, briefings, and readiness reviewsRetain cognizance over launch related studies and provide leadership with timely and relevant assessmentsMaintain familiarity with client / customer strategic roadmap and updates to US space policyQualificationsBachelor’s and nine (9) years or more experience;

Target salary range : $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
