Nike, Inc., located in Beaverton, OR. Provide trademark and copyright support to Nike marketing, product, design, and innovation organizations across the globe. Advise, counsel, and provide practical and strategic legal advice to business leaders on the adoption, protection, and enforcement of trademarks and copyrights. Lead all aspects of one of NIKE’s most valuable assets (its brands), including global trademark portfolio management, clearance and prosecution. Manage trademark enforcement, develop enforcement strategies, negotiate settlement agreements, and lead global opposition and cancellation proceedings. Support transactional IP matters, such as advising and negotiating on license agreements. Counsel on copyright and domain name matters. Work with team in a fast-paced environment and engage with cross-functional teammates and business clients from around the world. Work collaboratively with attorneys and paralegals on the IP team and across the legal team, including those in other geographies, as well as with outside counsel. Counsel business partners on risk and brand strategy, adapting to a variety of communication styles and needs. Active state bar license in a U.S. state bar.

Employer will accept a Juris Doctor and three (3) years of progressive experience in the job offered or legal-related occupation. Experience must include the following:

• Trademark and copyright law expert;


• Trademark searching and clearance;


• Global brand strategy development;


• Domestic, international trademark prosecution, enforcement, opposition and cancellation proceedings;


• Draft, review, and advise on IP aspects of commercial contracts including license agreements; and  


• Risk assessment in a rapidly evolving and nuanced area.
