Job Summary

In keeping with state and federal regulations, the assistant helps train team members in pharmacy practice within the Micro Fulfillment Center. They work closely with leadership to ensure that team members are performing their duties according to Company policies and procedures. They also use pharmacy systems to gather patient and drug information and fill prescriptions.

Responsibilities

• With the patient's satisfaction as the top priority, the Micro Fulfillment Center interacts with pharmacies to obtain patients' prescriptions promptly. It also steps up to address store issues related to prescription requests to ensure a pleasant customer experience.
• Facilitating the modeling and sharing of the most successful work practices with the team is an essential aspect of achieving an unforgettable customer experience. This includes highlighting interpersonal skills such as welcoming customers, maintaining eye contact, and displaying courteousness, along with demonstrating service qualities such as being proactive in providing assistance, identifying customer needs, and providing services until their satisfaction is attained.
• Engages in building strong connections with valuable customers and team members.
• Adheres to the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct by understanding and complying with pharmacy guidelines and regulations.
• Undertakes assigned duties from the Group Supervisor Pharmacist, which involve utilizing pharmacy systems to insert patient and drug information accurately, dispensing medication by measuring, counting, and pouring prescription drugs, verifying medication accuracy, and screening for drug interactions. Provides support to the Group Supervisor Pharmacist in managing and coordinating the pharmacy workflow schedule.
• In the case of prescription errors, notify the pharmacist on duty immediately and follow the Company's rules and regulations with respect to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
• All prescription dispensing activities shall be conducted in accordance with Walgreen Co.'s Good Faith Dispensing policy.
• Performs diverse tasks related to pharmaceutical inventory management, including ordering new products, unpacking and checking in the received shipment, sorting and organizing products, and storing items in designated locations.
• Assists in evaluating pharmacy financial and inventory data in order to optimize operations.
• Ensuring that the Micro Fulfillment Center is adequately supplied and that it maintains a clean and neat appearance both inside and out is one of the essential roles of an assistant.
• Coaches play a critical role in ensuring that pharmacy technicians and Fulfillment Specialists are fully equipped with the right tools and knowledge to conduct their duties efficiently within the Micro Fulfillment Center.
• Abides by all organizational guidelines and protocols while fostering positive interactions with colleagues.
• Carries out specific duties and other projects assigned.
• Ensures compliance with certification guidelines by participating in PTCB or ExCPT's training program and maintaining registration with the state.
• The employee takes part in training sessions and satisfactorily fulfills the necessary learning modules assigned by the manager, obtaining credits for further education.
• Remains knowledgeable about healthcare and pharmacy, continuing to upskill themselves with the latest news and developments.

Qualifications

• The pharmacist has been granted a valid and active pharmacy licensure by the state board, which is presently in good standing
• Any locations outside of Puerto Rico that honor PTCB or ExCPT certification
• Experienced pharmacy technician with one year of relevant experience in retail, hospital or fulfillment fields, seeking new opportunities
• This position demands exceptional proficiency in speaking, writing, and comprehending English, with the exception of Puerto Rico
• The position requires a flexible schedule with work hours on weekends and evenings

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work involvement with Walgreens
• Measuring medication requires accurate numeracy skills to ensure the correct amount is dispensed into the appropriate unit of measurement
• With basic level PC skills, an individual can power-up and turn off the computer using the right sequence of keys. They can use the mouse to select the desired icon, navigate through files, switch between programs and close windows. Moreover, they understand the know-how of saving documents, printing files, and accessing the Internet effortlessly
• Implementing a just-in-time inventory strategy can help reduce inventory-related costs while maintaining optimal stock levels
