 Primary Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist (OT):

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct our occupational therapy services, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities. 
  • Select rehabilitative and therapeutic activities and exercises based on medical and social history of residents. 
  • Ensure that therapy personnel follow established infection control procedures and universal precautions when performing duties. 
  • Develop and implement procedures that ensure all equipment and supplies are used in an efficient manner for resident to perform required therapy. 
  • Meet with and solicit advice from other department supervisors; assist in identifying and correcting problems and/or improvement of services. 
  • Make written and oral reports or recommendations concerning the operation of the department in conjunction with Rehabilitation Director. 
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, charting, etc. timely and as necessary.  

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist (OT):

 

  • Must possess, as minimum, a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university. 
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in this state. 
  • Must have experience in a therapist capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility. 
  • Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during Orientation. 
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. 
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
