Job Description: Pharmacy Technician

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Walmart. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the operations of our pharmacy department by assisting pharmacists in prescription processing, inventory management, and customer service. Responsibilities:

1. Prescription Processing: Assist pharmacists in accurately processing prescription orders, including data entry, prescription filling, and label printing. Verify prescription information and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

2. Inventory Management: Manage pharmacy inventory by monitoring stock levels, ordering medications and supplies, and rotating stock to ensure freshness. Assist with inventory audits and maintain proper storage of pharmaceutical products.

3. Customer Service: Provide friendly and courteous customer service to pharmacy customers, both in-person and over the phone. Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and assist with prescription pickups and drop-offs in a timely manner.

4. Medication Dispensing: Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Ensure that medications are properly labeled and packaged according to pharmacy standards.

5. Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance checks on filled prescriptions to ensure accuracy and completeness. Identify and report any discrepancies or potential errors to the pharmacist for resolution.

6. Patient Education: Assist pharmacists in providing medication counseling and education to patients, including instructions on proper medication use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies. Answer patient questions and concerns regarding their medications.

7. Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative tasks, such as maintaining patient profiles, processing insurance claims, and updating prescription records in the pharmacy system. Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.

Requirements:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or certification is preferred.

2. Certification: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is preferred but not required. Must be willing to obtain certification within a specified timeframe if not already certified.

3. Experience: Previous experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.

4. Technical Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing pharmacy tasks. Basic computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy software systems are desirable.

5. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to interact professionally with customers, healthcare providers, and team members.
