We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Drug Dispensing Technician to join our pharmacy team at Walmart. As a Drug Dispensing Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting pharmacists with medication dispensing, prescription processing, and customer service. Responsibilities:

1. Medication Dispensing: Assist pharmacists with the accurate and efficient dispensing of prescription medications to customers. Prepare prescription orders, label medication bottles, and ensure that all medications are dispensed in accordance with state and federal regulations.

2. Prescription Processing: Receive, review, and process prescription orders from customers, healthcare providers, and electronic prescription systems. Verify prescription information, insurance coverage, and patient information to ensure accuracy and compliance.

3. Inventory Management: Maintain pharmacy inventory by stocking shelves, rotating stock, and monitoring expiration dates. Assist with inventory counts, order medications and supplies as needed, and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock on hand.

4. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients, answering questions, addressing concerns, and resolving issues related to medication dispensing and prescription refills. Assist customers with over-the-counter medication selections and provide information on medication usage and side effects.

5. Data Entry: Enter prescription information and patient data accurately into the pharmacy computer system. Update patient profiles, prescription records, and insurance information as needed. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

6. Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on dispensed medications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with pharmacy policies and procedures. Report any discrepancies or errors to the pharmacist for resolution.

7. Compliance: Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies governing pharmacy operations, including controlled substance regulations, safety standards, and privacy regulations.

Requirements:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or certification preferred.

2. Certification/Licensure: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or equivalent state certification required. Current registration as a pharmacy technician with the state board of pharmacy.

3. Experience: Previous experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or outpatient pharmacy setting preferred. Familiarity with pharmacy operations, medication dispensing procedures, and pharmacy computer systems.

4. Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, healthcare providers, and pharmacy team members.
