We are looking for a motivated engineering technician to join our Autopilot Electronics Product Design team. This individual will work very closely with multiple engineering teams and is expected to drive validation tasks and work independently with minimal supervision. The work will include handling thermal, mechanical, electrical, and control systems. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, a self-starter, and able to learn new concepts quickly.
- Maintain a clean lab space and inventory
- Work with engineers to create test setups
- Model simple components and fixtures in CAD (CATIA, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Independently run tests and collect data
- Post process data after testing
- Coordinate with machine shop and 3D print lab to create fixtures
- Assemble and install fixtures for testing
- Create Jira tickets to track testing
- Assemble / disassemble electronics modules on vehicle for testing
- Build and install thermocouples for data collection
- Support early vehicle trial builds at Tesla factories
- Triage and identify assembly issues and report back to responsible engineers
- Familiar with sensors and gauges
- Fluency and confidence with common hand tools, power tools, and hardware
- Working knowledge of Micrsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Proactive and learning attitude
- Working understanding of CAD software (CATIA preferred)
- Strong focus on building electronics assemblies. Experience of tear downs and repairing electronics is a plus
- Good documentation skills to ensure easy data access and organization
