Ukrainian Contract Linguist - Translator
Job Description:
As the FBI continues to work towards thwarting criminal activity, it has become increasingly clear that language and cultural expertise play a crucial role in achieving its objectives. The bureau is thus searching for individuals who can help them bridge the communication gap by offering their interpretation, translation and cultural analysis skills as contract linguists. By working as a contract linguist, you will become an essential participant in efforts to combat criminal activities, upholding the mission of the FBI.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide English translations of written or audio content that is originally in a different language.
- Effective interpretation plays a pivotal role in facilitating communication in various settings such as interviews, training sessions, and visits from important foreign officials.
- As an expert in cultural diversity, I can help ensure that investigations are conducted in a way that is respectful of different cultural groups and avoids harmful stereotypes.
- Share any additional steps taken to ensure the quality of the translated materials.
- Assist undercover agents with conducting a diverse range of interviews.
- The position is based at a field office, but could require visits to alternate field offices or legal attachs in order to assist with legal proceedings.
Key Requirments:
If you want to be considered as a contract linguist, you need to meet certain requirements:
- Attain acceptable scores on the FBI's Foreign Language Test Battery to demonstrate your aptitude in languages.
- Only U.S. citizens can apply for this position.
- Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance is an indispensable requirement for this position.
- Open to traveling according to the job requirements.
- Fulfilling the FBI's Employment Eligibility prerequisites is essential for all prospective employees.
