Junior Staff Accountant
Summary:
The staff accountant is responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks to ensure the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. This role involves supporting the finance team in maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and assisting with audits.
Responsibilities:
Recording Transactions: Record day-to-day financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
Accounts Payable: Process accounts payable transactions including invoice verification, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements.
Accounts Receivable: Assist with accounts receivable functions such as invoicing, cash receipts, and customer collections.
Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing financial data and analysis.
Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and support as needed.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
Process Improvement: Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Experience:
1-3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis.
Familiarity with Quickbooks Online.
