Barback

Position Summary

The Barback will support the bartenders. They will assist the bar team in coordinating and maintaining the bar program, and they will assist servers and bartenders in making and delivering beverages or any additional needs the guest may require during their experience. In addition they may be required to make and deliver espresso drinks.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Responsible for ensuring a consistent flow of services to guest and servers by assisting bartender with their job functions.
• Clears and wipes down tables.
• Maintains a clean work environment in accordance with Health Department standards.
• Checks glass washers for proper chemical mixture and volume.
• Maintains par stock levels by placing orders for wine, champagne, beer, liquor, and perishables at start of shift.
• Stock garnishes and mixes, cuts fruit to specification and prepares all condiment caddies.
• Collects all excess glasses from bars and restocks them in their appropriate outlets in accordance to specification, along with retrieving bar glassware from dish areas.
• Sweeps and mops all related work areas, coolers, and storage area floors.
• Replaces and rotates beer kegs and soda bag-in-boxes as required.
• When assisting the bartenders with orders, uses suggestive selling/up-selling practices.
• Approaches guests and welcomes them upon arrival.
• Uses guest names during interactions and remembers their preferences.
• Promptly and professionally handles guest issues and communicates problems and concerns to management.
• Continuously monitors bar to ensure that all guest are receiving beverage service in a timely manner.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in high volume restaurant
• Must have Certified Food Handlers Card.
• Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations).
• Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced, high volume, finer dining establishment
• A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with others.
• Requires the ability to read write and speak the English language.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and taste and smell. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Shall be able to exert 10 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force to constantly move objects.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Long periods of standing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Must be able to work in a fast paced and customer service-oriented environment; to perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner; to work as part of a team as well as to complete assignments independently; to take instructions from managers; to exercise problem solving skills; and to interact with co-workers, managers, guests and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must learn and comply with all Hotel safety rules, must use appropriate safety equipment at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to management; must be familiar with all safety features or equipment, machinery or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with manager if there is a question as to safe procedure to be used for any job function.
