Job Summary:

Running a hospital needs excellent veterinary care and first-class customer service. You should determine animal needs, conduct diagnostic tests and exams, attend to nursing care, assist in the feeding of patients, maintain medical equipment and supplies, handle patient checkouts and triage as well as preserve accurate medical records.

• Key Responsibilities:
• Another possible way is to look through the pets health record and care plans thereby providing information about their previous complications such as medication given to it, diet or its general routine. Moreover, laboratory tests are carried out so that they detect any silent pathological conditions.
• Patients receive personal attention which includes taking vital signs, obtaining samples of body fluid for testing purposes; also give medication including drugs and vaccines besides dressing wounds.
• Put together necessary instruments and materials used during examination of a patient by a vet so as they do not need physical lifting on entering designated places; follow veterinarian orders.
• Be able to administer specific medications appropriately for quality pet care.
• Collects and verifies drugs prescribed by the doctor for administration.
• Take charge of patients food and water requirements, clean their cages living space tools while looking out for any signs of diseases in them.
• Follow guidelines concerning medication prescriptions administration procedures. We must keep appropriate logs documenting all drug administration process our control substances must be kept secured all times adhering with law regulations.
• Ensure safe environment through carrying-out sterilization processes followed by wrapping tools before sanitizing operation area which will include storage then checking expiration date of preservatives based on what is provided among other practices within stipulated procedures guided by rules governing practice as per legal provisions covering these animals

The work allocated in any of these specialized medical areas may require performing additional duties:

Cardiology:

• It is important to ensure proper collection and delivery of diagnostic specimens to the laboratory.
• Patients with acquired cardiac disorders may need dietary changes and exercise modifications as well as changes in medication administered for treatment purposes in order manage their condition effectively .
• Regulate transducers/physiographs so that intracardiac and intravascular pressures are constantly monitored during recording procedures.

Dermatology:

• Dispense prescription medications by various routes for example injection, oral ingestion or topical application methods.
• Clean ears then make ear flushes.
• Obtain skin scrapings using adhesive tape.
• Prepare slides of skin and ear cytology for laboratory diagnosis.
• Apply anesthesia and watch the patient as it takes its effect.
• Place IV catheters in tiny veins.

Emergency:

• Help veterinarians to handle emergency situations and critically ill patients.
• Keep an eye on vital signs, introduce tubes, take x-rays.
• Casts or bandages can also be used to stabilize wounds tightly, preventing movement that might disrupt the healing process.
• Administer vaccines and collect blood samples too if necessary.
• ICU will require you to work on call basis sometimes

Imaging:

• Include assisting veterinary practitioners in using different diagnostic imaging modalities like digital radiography, MRI, CT scans, ultrasound among others to detect illnesses affecting pets,

Integrative:

• Vets should record all diagnoses of pets together with treatments provided followed by their outcomes so as to better understand the results of holism.

Internal Medicine:

Quaifications:

• Completing high school or GED may also lead to higher incomes and other job advancements.
• For 2 years I have developed knowledge that allows me provide excellent veterinary care during appointments, surgeries and nursing care for sick animals staying in hospital settings as well as those that are critically ill
• Some states require a CVT, LVT, RVT or LVMT before an individual can work as a veterinary technician.
• However diverse combinations of education, certification(s), training and/or experience can be considered by the hiring employer for alternate qualifications.

Position Requirements:

• To have a good understanding of animal preparation processes carried out before/during/after an operation, plus basic companion animal care skills is critical.
• One must be skilled in how to put in catheters correctly; draw blood from veins; take radiographs using digital tools; respond to emergency medicine;
• Dont go near wild animals: dont touch them too!
• Be able to follow approved means of patient confinement when required.
• Administer drugs under vet supervision while also monitoring sedation levels in patients on sedative medications used in veterinary practice.
• Be familiar with working with potentially infectious agents such as sick animals (e.g., rabbits) or noxious chemicals like volatile anaesthetic preparations—apart from being able to function amidst offensive odors emanating from wounds of infected dogs/cats.
• For the effective performance of a job, it is necessary to possess flexible schedule and weekends/holidays availability.
• This laborious work requires constant movement, maintenance and lifting heavy things.
• The time spent sitting at a desk or standing on feet can vary depending on the specific functional area you are assigned to.
• Its possible that kneeling down or crawling might be involved when executing certain tasks.
• Some positions require completion of intermittent moderately strenuous physical activity such as lifting or carrying animals weighing less than 50 pounds
• Answer incoming phone calls and complete any other duties assigned within the hospital setting.
• Other tasks may be assigned by Practice Manager as needed.
