Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Job Responsibilities:

• Verify the compliance of the specimens with the specified testing requirements before proceeding
• Conduct routine and complex technical procedures and functions while complying with the department's Standard Operating Procedures
• The act of monitoring, managing, and addressing any equipment mishaps can help establish consistent, reliable results
• Making technical decisions about testing and problem-solving requires a combination of analytical skills, expertise, and innovation.
• The formulation, testing, and inspection of novel reagents or controls are critical elements of ensuring accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility in research and diagnostic methods
• A crucial aspect of providing quality care to patients is the production of precise and timely test results
• Regular preventive maintenance and quality control measures can help avoid downtime due to equipment failure and prevent costly repairs or replacements. When issues are identified early, they can be resolved before they become more significant problems
• Review and replace depleted testing bench materials when needed
• Offer support in the handling of specimens if necessary
• Wear proper personal protective equipment to maintain a safe working space

Requirements:

• Meeting the local regulatory requirements or securing an associate degree in Chemical or Biological science, Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Technologist can help in pursuing Clinical Laboratory Technologist as a career
• Having worked in a laboratory setting previously is a major asset
• Medical laboratories and hospitals often require ASCP or AMT certification for employment in technician or technologist roles
• The proficiency to complete duties individually or as part of a team with equal effectiveness
• Proficient at working with computers; having prior acquaintance with laboratory information systems would be advantageous
• Excelling in both accuracy and precision, while also having exceptional communication and organizational capabilities
• Candidates will have to pass an exam for color vision that is standardized
• The willingness to work additional hours or alternate shifts depending on the exigencies of the enterprise
